Best-selling album by French Rap band IAM, from Marseille - this CD, released in 1997 was in the French Charts for more than six months, and is regarded by many as a HipHop masterpiece. Formed in the late 80's they were the first French and probably European rap group to achieve serious success. Their musical style is a mix of melodic smooth grooves, heavy bass-beats, 'old-school' rap and inventive sampling. Their lyrics (in French)often deal with day to day life in the Marseille suburbs - drugs, police, violence, etc... The 6 main members of the band have remained together since they formed, and include Akhenaton, Surik'n and Freeman who have all been involved in solo and separate albums.
