Sister Rosetta Tharpe was an exciting singer and adept jazz-blues guitarist, who was one of the first artists to take the gospel music tradition into the secular arena, maintaining its power but giving it a more accessible form, as Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin would do quite some years later. This 37 track, 2 CD survey of her early work covers her early solo recordings from 1938 and her sessions with Lucky Millinder's Orchestra from 1941-43, plus other solo work. Contains 24 page booklet with rare photos & English text.
