Allthe music on this unique CD, with the exception of the Sonatina by 20th-centuryDutch composer Hendrik Andriessen, comes from musicians steeped in theAustro-German late Romantic tradition, by whom the 'melancholy' tones of theviola were particularly prized. None ofthis attractive music is otherwise available on disc, so interest in thisrelease should extend well beyond viola enthusiasts. |
