Hot on the heels of the DANACORD release of highlights from the 1999 Husum piano festival (DACOCD 539) comes this millennium release. This 12th volume, recorded at the 2000 event, has one notable feature missing from its predecessors - 3 "cabaret songs" from a late-night concert given by Marc-André Hamelin and his wife. Otherwise, the highly successful format of previous releases - out-of-the-way repertoire performed by virtuoso pianists - is repeated, and piano enthusiasts will need no further encouragement. |
