CharlesWaterford was a blues shouter who worked with the bands of Andy Kirk in the 30s& Jay McShann in the early 40s, then became a jouneyman jump jazz-bluessinger recording for Aladdin, Capitol & King with assorted line-upsincluding Pete Johnson, Harold Land, Joe Thomas, Gerald Wilson, etc. He never made it big, but was a typical,all-round singer of the period who made a distinctive impact. This compilation should help to rectify hisrelative obscurity.
