Acontemporary composer, born 1893 in Russia but based in Paris, Wyschnegradskyworks finally became recognised in the seventies, championed by the likes ofMessiaen, Dutilleux and Ballif. He wrote many works for 1,2,3,4 and 6 pianosinvestigating third, quarter, sixth and twelfth-tone systems. These works arewritten in quarter-tone system and are played with 2 pianos tuned inquarter-tone apart.
