One of the truly great, but almost completely forgotten, singers of the post-war years, Andrew Tibbs was a magnificent blues balladeer, who could also rock with the best of them. Hopefully, this first-ever CD compilation of his work will help to spread awareness of his phenomenal ability.

Having recorded for Aristocrat between 1947 and 1949, he was singed to the newly formed Chess label in 1950, but was amazingly dropped after only one release. He did one date for Peacock in 1951, followed by some unissued sessions for Savoy. Then, apart from a one single session for Atlantic in 1956 and some recordings for M-Pac in 1962, Tibbs merely made occasional appearances in Chicago clubs, until his death in 1991.

"This CD has been constantly on my deck for the past couple of weeks and is so good that I can't see me 'filing it' for a long time yet. Buy it and treat yourself to one of the finest examples of post-war vocalising ever. Andrew Tibbs was a precious talent, thankfully preserved on this CD."Tony Watson,  Blues & Rhythm April 2002.
