Little is known ofthe composer, except that he was one of the first exponents of the 'stilenuovo' which in 17th-century Italy succeeded the 'ars perfecta' of such earliermasters as Palestrina and Gabrieli. Music well worth discovering by anyone interested in the development ofthe baroque style.
