1999, and something new hits the scene. Behind a discreet sign on the Rue St. Honoré in Paris lies a Hôtel of opulence and style. Within the walls can often be heard cool downtempo sounds, often mixed by resident DJ Stéphane Pompougnac. Transferred to CD, the brand of mellow but challenging rhythms caught a spark, at first in France, then progressively elsewhere; at this time, nobody knew just how far this idea was destined to travel, to unfold into a much larger library of exquisite listening and beautiful packaging.The Hôtel Costes series by Stéphane Pompougnac had begun.
