This is an even newer Geoff Achison album, following last month's excellent "Chasing My Tail" (which in truth was a delayed release of an Australia-only issue). This is a brand new, May 2002 UK recording - with a completely different band, but with Geoff's amazingly all-round talents, as always, to the fore: strong, soulful vocals, brilliant blues-soaked lead guitar and tremendous song-writing abilities. He's had several outstanding, totally sold-out tours of the UK and Europe and the BBC's Paul Jones is a big fan - but surely it's just a matter of time before this guy's discovered by a much wider audience.
Achison is at heart a blues-based artist, but who frequently mixes rock, soul and even a touch of jazz into his music, and on this his seventh album (some only released in his Australian homeland) he moves from semi-acoustic to fully electric with his rock solid band and several guest musicians, including one track with a string section from the Sydney Opera & Sydney Symphony Orchestra
In 1995, while touring in the State, he won The Albert King Award, and received a Gibson Guitars sponsorship deal. He had an especially successful tour this summer in the UK, Germany, Belgium & Holland.
