Debut release from Swedish duo Gros,  which is getting regular airplay on John Peel's Show.  Their album, "Waves" is a work, made up of 10 original pieces of fragile electronica with a thoughtful retro feel.  They use seventies analogue instruments combined with 'state of the art' computers, samples, loops to produce music that is both modern and classic electronica  -  adding a host of individual touches with subtle understatement.

"Alfombra Voladora" and "City Weekend" have elements of  Kraftwerk's approach but with 21st-century technology ;  at other times there are links with Autechre, Aphex Twin, Brian Eno, Orbital and Can. Gros are a remarkably listenable, electronic duo who have had the guts to venture out of the garage. Their real art is in the subtle manipulations of timbre, meter and eclectic influences.
