Phil Brown was known as one of the best songwriters, singers and guitarists in Los Angeles in the 1980's - writing material for a wide spectrum of top artists, including: Foreigner, Journey, Pat Benatar, Cher, Tower of Power, Kim Carnes, Bonnie Tyler, Kix, etc, etc. His songs went gold & platinum many times, but during the 90's it all collapsed and he fell on hard times for quite a while.
Now, after 20 years of creating material for other artists and bands, Phil Brown releases his own debut album "Cruel Inventions", which comes in a special double gatefold digipak sleeve. His influences run from blues and jazz to soft and hard rock - providing lead vocals and guitar on all tracks, and playing bass and drums on many of them. The rest of the musicians on the album are referred to as a band : "The Apaches From Paris". There are nine new original compositions, plus his own individual interpretations of Muddy Waters' "Rollin' and Tumblin", Mingus' "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat" and Hendrix's "If 6 Was 9".
