Alfano is best known for his 'completion' of Puccini's Turandot, but this adaptation of Tolstoy's novel 'Resurrection' was a great success during the composer's lifetime. This excellent 'live' recording, made in 2001 and claiming world premičre status, should do much to revive interest in a powerful work. Notes, libretto & translations included.
