This is the first release by Toreth - two Cardiff-based traditional musicians, fiddle player Gareth Westacott and melodion / button accordionist, Guto Dafls. Both are well-known figures on the Welsh folk scene and have played in many bands over the past 15 years.

On this new self titled album, they give new life to old Welsh melodies and hymn tunes - reinterpreting and reinventing the material within a more dynamic, passionate folk-dance approach, reminiscent of the dance music of Brittany.

As well as instrumentals, they both also sing songs whose mood ranges from dry humour to romantic melancholy. Toreth are set to play an important part in the ever-increasing revival of Welsh traditional music.
