After "Halva that drives you mad", their first CD, released in 1998, Gurultu's new album features guest musician Petko Stefanov, a master of the Bulgarian gaïta (bagpipe). The band was founded in 1994 by classical musicians, also versed in jazz, contemporary and traditional music, sharing a common passion for the music of the Balkans. With strings (saz, ud, buzuk), winds (clarinet, flutes, saxophones, trombones) and percussion (darbuka, davul, riq, daf, bendir), they interpret traditional songs and dances from Anatolia or Macedonia as well as personal compositions, reinventing a tradition with a great freedom & inspiration. |
