Nashville alto-sax player - a professional musician in the late 30's and then leader of small jump/swing bands in the 40's. He didn't record until 1947, and although he never achieved great R&B chart success, he went on to cut a respected body of jump-blues material. The high spots here are provided by the vocals of Iona Wade (later with James Moody); trumpeter Charles Gillum ( later with Roy Milton's Solid Senders; and pianist Skippy Brooks who became one of the Excello label house band, and was in Kid King's Combo.
