Compilation of the recordings (1978-88) of innovative Cuban pianist/composer Emiliano Salvador who married the 'son' style with jazz, adding electric bass and keyboards to the traditional band line-up.For several years he wrote arrangements for Pablo Milanes, who appears here along with luminaries of Latin jazz such as Paquito d'Rivera and Arturo Sandoval. Salvador died in 1992, aged 41, but his subtle compositions, blending the feel and flavour of Cuba with an improvisational jazz sensibility,mark him out as an important figure in the evolution of Cuban music.
