Rare opportunity to hear Lee Morgan stretching out (in 2 versions) on "Ceroa", one of his most famous songs. A performance of this composition taped for Blue Note was not included in the Blue Note CD because it was incomplete. This is also the only Lee Morgan recording to feature pianist Harold Mabern's "The Chief", a tune dedicated to John Coltrane...also Mabern's "Rakin' and Scrapin'", which was part of the band's regular repertoire but was never recorded by Lee Morgan anywhere else than in this set. Finally, on this album, Lee Morgan is heard for the only time in his entire discography playing "Willow Weep for Me".
