A starkly beautiful, new recording of the pure, profound sound of Corsican polyphonic singing  -  a tradition that can be traced back to the monasteries of the 9^th Century., and which has continued to influence sacred and secular music ever since.

Led by singer and musicologist, Jean-Paul Poletti, the Sartene Choir is comprised of the classic structure of two basses, two baritones and three tenors.   This anthology of material provides a wonderful introduction to their incomparable heritage, and is comparable to the excellent  2 albums by Nouvelle Polyphonies Corses (still available) on Mercury France.
