On their new album "Kyoten Dochi", the famous 8-piece Ondekoza group return with a new line-up and a new approach  -  taking traditional shakuhachi themes and Taiko drumming into inventive new areas :  combining their spiritual Eastern traditions with elements of Western Jazz & Improvisation.  There are pusating rhythms, sections of meditative lyricism and some amazing free saxophone playing  -  plus other guests on Cembalo, Shamisen, Shakuhachi and Vocals.

'The Devil Drummers' , Ondekoza still combine their music with a punishing long-distance running regime.  They have been known to play concerts immediately after all finishing marathon races !  Between 1990 and 1993, the group toured the USA, running a total of nearly 15,000 kilometres.
