For the first 45 minutes or so of this CD, you could be forgiven for wondering how such a mellifluous and relaxing succession of works for flute could have anything to do with the 20th century. Then come the pieces by Bernstein and Boulez! So the result, in two sections, is a splendidly various (and brand-new) programme, highlighting the exquisite and virtuosic playing of Michel Debost. A must for all flautists and flute-fanciers. |
