Rembetika...the Greek blues, developed in the back street bars of run-down suburbs in the 1920s. It was in these cafes, filled with hashish smoke, that Markos Vammakaris, from the island of Syros, wrote songs about drugs, broken hearts and gangsters .
For three nights in 2002 singing star George Dalaras performed a tribute to the godfather of rembetika, fittingly on Syros, supported by Vammakaris' two sons.....2CD set is a record of these concerts
