Pierre Henry's "Dracula was written in 2002 as part of a specially commissioned series of concerts under the title 'Living Spectacles', at the Pompidou Arts Centre in Paris. The composition, in 8 sections, is a marvellously atmospheric, and appropriately brooding piece by one of the undisputed fathers of electronic music. Pierre Henry studied under Olivier Messiaen and Nadia Boulanger; collaborated with Pierre Schaeffer to create Musique Concrete; worked with a variety of theatre & ballet projects; released the rock album "Ceremony" with the UK group Spooky Tooth in 1969; and produced a large body of recorded work. His influence on contemporary music was underlined by the reissue of his "Metamorphose" album, in 2000 featuring remixes of the tracks by Coldcut, Fatboy Slim, William Orbit, DJ Vadim, Funci Porcini, etc; followed by "The Psche Rock Sessions" in 2001 with Michel Colombier and most of the above DJs.
