Danish tenor sax player Fredrick Lundin was influenced in this project by a long-term admiration for Clifford Brown's 'plays Leadbelly' album "These Are My Roots". In 2001, Lundin had also released his "Choose Your Boots" album - a homage to American Blues & Roots music - which won a Danish Music Award for Best Jazz Album in 2002. The 11-piece Overdrive band, featured here, was created for that recording and features the cream of Scandinavian jazz musicians.

They are joined for 2 tracks on "Belly-Up" by star guest Per Jorgensen. The powerful, two drummer sound does full justice to Lundin's fascinating arrangements, as they re-invent famous Leadbelly compositions like "Goodnight Irene", "Take This Hammer", "Ella Speed", etc.
