This was a key period of transition for Muddy Waters : he dropped bass player Big Crawford, and recorded without bass for 3 years; Little Walter joined the band and his first recordings with Muddy are included; Jimmy Rogers also joined the band; and by the last 4 tracks of this album, Junior Wells had replaced Walter.
