Brando's death in July of this year, inevitably sparked a mass of retrospective attention on his career. This 13 track compilation on the Spanish Blue Moon label reminds us of some of the fine soundtrack music from his movies, starting with "Love Theme" Leonard Bernstein's superb score to "on The Waterfront" ; other films represented include : "A Streetcar Named Desire", "The Wild One", "The Chase", "Guys & Dolls", "Sayonara", "Viva Zapata", "The Men", "Julius Caesar", "Mutiny On The Bounty", etc.
Marlon Brando was quite simply one of the most celebrated and influential screen and stage actors of the postwar era; he rewrote the rules of performing, and nothing was ever the same again...A combative and often contradictory man, Brando refused to play by the rules of the Hollywood game, openly expressing his loathing for the film industry .... He is one of the screen's greatest enigmas, and there will never be another quite like him.
