This issue features the classic collaboration between singer Sarah Vaughan and trumpeter Clifford Brown - swinging up a storm in a 1954 New York studio session. Surrounded by great musicians (Herbie Mann, Paul Quinichette, Jimmy Jones and Roy Haynes, among others), excellent arrangements by Ernie Wilkins and a program of fine songs (“It’s Crazy,” Jim,” Lullaby Of Birdland,” September Song,” Embraceable You,” and others), she gives inspired performances. This edition also includes 8 bonus tracks : a complete trio session from the spring of the same year with pianist John Malachi, Joe Benjamin (bass) and Roy Haynes, again. This release is the 3rd CD in the Clifford Brown & The Ladies of Jazz Project on Lonehill.
