Trumpeter Joe Morris, formerly with the Lionel Hampton orchestra, formed his own large band and R&B touring revue, finally achieving some recording success on Atlantic using the beautiful Little Laurie Tate as vocalist on his bluesy, brassy tunes. Tate gave up in 1951 to be replaced by various male singers, incl Billy Mitchell.
