United Records, owned by Leonard Allen, pioneered high fidelity recording of Jazz, Blues & Gospel in its Chicago studios between 1951 and 1957. Twenty two sides collated here represent a fascinating cross section of recordings made for the United and States labels…..an authentic slice of black music history. Lesser known local acts share the bill with Junior Wells (previously unissued track), Jimmy Forrest, Tiny Grimes etc.
