| The present grand organ at Angers dates from the 1740s and was built by the Parisian maker Jean Dangeville. Over one hundred years later, the instrument was completely revised and refurbished by Aristide Cavaillé-Coll, the work being completed in 1874. Nicole Morelle recorded this varied programme by French composers to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the death of Cavaillé-Coll. She displays many of the colours and textures possible from one of the finest of his surviving instruments. |
