Not to be outdone by the extraordinary achievements of the two pianists presented by ARBITER this month (see above), Hungarian soprano Marta Eggerth here features recordings made over her 70-year international singing career, as a star of operetta, film, lieder and grand opera. Amazingly, much of the second CD was made in 2002, when she was 90, while many of the early waxings which made her name in the 1930s (including superb versions of favourites by such as Franz Lehár and Johann Strauss) are included on the first disc. Inimitable!
