DAAU are a highly eclectic, unconventional Belgian group of 5 musicians who play violin, cello, piano, clarinet and accordion. Formed in 1992, this is their 4th full-length album. Their name, short for ‘Die Anarchistische Abendunterhaltung’ (The anarchistic evening conversation) is taken from the novel Steppenwolf by Herman Hesse. They had an album released on Sony Classical in 1997 and worked with Think Of One on their recent ‘Juggernaut’ album. Their style incorporates folk, classical, rock, gypsy, jazz, reggae, dub and trance which they play with a wonderful mixture of passion, exuberance, beauty and strangeness; artistic without pretentiousness - avant-garde without inaccessibility; virtuoso musicianship with fundamental rock & roll attitude.
‘Tub Gurnard Goodness' contains 12 completely new tracks all performed by DAAU, exept 2+2=5 written by Radiohead. Reggae vocals and lyrics on 2 tracks are by Angélique Wilkie. The album cover is a digi-pack made from recycled hardboard. A unique band well worth investigating. UK concert dates being planned.
