Otis Blackwell became a famed rock ‘n’ roll songwriter, particularly for Presley (Don’t Be Cruel, All Shook Up etc) but had little success with his own records. These tracks, made a couple of years before his name would begin to appear on the writing credits of smash hit singles, were cut with the best New York session men and demonstrate his early talent for producing original songs and his dramatic style of delivery
