Young (still only 25) Daniel Röhn’s grandfather was leader of the Berlin Phil during the Furtwängler years, so he has an excellent violin pedigree. His debut CLAVES CD (50-2102), of the Mendelssohn concerto, no less, was warmly received, and this enterprising and very personal selection will further enhance his growing reputation – and that of his sensitive accompanist Milana Chernyavska. There is no other recording of Christian Sinding’s ‘Suite’ in its original violin-and-piano version.
