Bronagh Gallagher is well known as the Irish actress who had a lead part in ‘The Commitments’ and has played cameo roles in ‘Pulp Fiction’, ‘Star Wars – The Phantom Menance’ and starred in many other films. But she has always had an equally strong musical side : singer, songwriter and drummer . She has now released her debut album, Precious Soul’, on her own Salty Dog label - including organ, arranging and production contributions from none other than Brian Eno. Overall producer was the highly respected John Reynolds (U2, Sinead O'Connor, Indigo Girls, Natacha Atlas, etc).
Bronagh has also gathered some of Ireland’s finest musicians to support her on this natural, honest album that blends elements of Memphis Soul, Country, Blues, Gospel and laid-back Celtic Rock - topped by Bronagh’s engaging voice. All but one of the songs are composed by her and the album was recorded in London using vintage equipment (mics, drums, bass, etc) to give it a raw, sparse mid-1960’s feel.
