A rare showcase for the renowned big band trumpeter Buddy Childers. After 11 years with the Kenton orchestra, Childers settled on the West coast. He headed the brass section on numerous recordings but these sides are the only ones he made leading his own group during the Fifties.

His lush middle and lower registers are very much in evidence and he proves to be a sensitive and lyrical soloist with a warm sounding, old-time modern approach reminiscent of Bobby Hackett and Harry Edison. Highly recommended.
