A 3 hour DVD featuring the legendary Brazilian guitarist and composer, Roberto Baden Powell de Aquino who was one of the key fathers of Bossa Nova and Samba. This Fremeaux label release presents two hour long concerts - one solo and one with his trio; plus an interview with him and two other interviews with French stars Claude Nougaro and Pirre Barough, who knew and worked with Baden Powell.
Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1937, Powell was classically trained but came to prominence in the mid-50s with his composition Samba Triste. More hits followed and in the early 60’s he began a long partnership with Vinicius de Moraes. He went on to record and tour extensively - being especially popular in France. He also worked with Stan Getz, Jim Hall And Barney Kessell as well as many Brazilian stars. He died in 2000.
