Vocalist Johnny Hartman’s visited Japan in 1972 for several concerts and while there recorded the 3 studio sessions included here, in Tokyo with top-flight Japanese musicians. These inspired performances in intimate quartet and quintet settings make these rare recordings a very valuable part of the illustrious Johnny Hartman’s discography. He had visited Japan previously in 1963 with Art Blakey’s band.
