Swiss painter Paul Klee, a talented musician, probably inspired more composers than any other 20th century artist. This CD brings together 3 such works, by 2 Swiss-born composers and one Hungarian who settled in Switzerland in 1949. The live recordings were made at concerts in Klee’s home town by Camerata Bern, who are maybe natural successors to the Municipal Orchestra in which Klee played violin while still a schoolboy.
Reviews For Hommage a Paul Klee
Gramophone Magazine - Richard Whitehouse
Superb playing from Olivier Darbellay, as also from Camerata Bern under Erich Hobarth. The recorded sound is fine, as are booklet annotations. As a 'portrait of the artist', this release is warmly recommended.
