Amadou & Mariam have stormed into the UK. Given real backing from the outset on their new French label, Because Music, and fantastic production by Manu Chao, having done a whistlestop UK tour in 2005, and set to do the African Soul Rebels tour in 2006, Amadou & Mariam are making an impact over here.

Needless to say, with Manu Chao’s notoriety, the album has sold something approaching 200,000 copies in France, and is having a good effect in most countries around the world.

African psychedelic Blues with simple songs presented mostly in their native Malian tongue, the combination of the two vocalists is something to behold both on stage and on record. Well recommended.
