| Eighth volume of Lars Gullin recordings. Gullin’s composition Danny’s Dream, recorded in 1954, is regarded as a Swedish jazz classic and the starting point for jazz with a Nordic flavour to be taken seriously outside Scandinavia. This disc contains improved sound versions of all the material recorded by the Lars Gullin quartet (including alternate takes) between 1953 and 1955. The regular line-up was Gullin (bar sax), Rolf Berg (guitar) and Georg Riedel (bass) with various drummers and there are three tracks here on which the group was augmented by Carl-Henrik Norin on tenor sax. |
