Tommy Ridgley’s fame as a singer never spread much further than New Orleans but he was quite a star locally, aided by his association with bandleader and hit-maker Dave Bartholomew. It’s the Bartholomew outfit which backs up Ridgley on most of the 22 tracks here, in the distinctive New Orleans blues style, while Ray Charles is the session pianist on a couple of soulful songs recorded for Atlantic.
