For the first time on CD the complete catalogue of records issued by Johnny Sparrow, known in the music trade papers as “The Mad Sax Man”. Sparrow, a former sideman with Jay McShann, Louis Armstrong’s Orchestra and the Lionel Hampton big band, had something of a hit with his debut release, Sparrow’s Flight, but couldn’t repeat that success. On this rare collection you can hear the whole range of a forgotten musician’s styles: lush ballads, jungle exotica, bebop and jump.
