One of the most tastefully elegant pianists, John Lewis rose to the top of the jazz world as the guiding force behind the legendary Modern Jazz Quartet. This release includes Lewis’ complete 1956 album, ‘Afternoon In Paris’ : wonderfully ‘french’ quintet sessions with guitarist Sacha Distel, tenor saxophonist Barney Wilen, bassists Percy Heath or Pierre Michelot, and drummers Kenny Clarke or Connie Kay.

This edition also boasts two delightful bonus tracks (Little Girl Blue and D & E) featuring Lewis in a trio format with Heath and Kay, recorded in a New York studio on February 21, 1957. These two tracks were the only songs recorded during the session.
