Willie ‘Loco’ Alexander founded the garage band The Lost in Boston in 1964 (they recorded an album for Capitol); he was in The Glass Menagerie with Doug Yule, who then replaced John Cale in the Velvet Underground in 1968; then Alexander himself replaced Lou Reed in the Velvets in 1970. He formed the proto-punk Boom Boom Band in 1975.
