Accordionist-singer-songwriter B.Roy played in Manu Chao’s band Radio Bemba Sound System and toured with him in Manu Negra in the early 90s, but prior to that he was already an indie rock survivor from the early 80s when he led his ‘trash guingette’ band The French Lovers. He still retains that Negresses Vertes-esque energy and flamboyance on this album, “17 Rue du Plaisir”, with his current trio : drummer Patrick Lemarchand (ex-Parabellum) and bassist Alejandro Marassi (from Flor del Fango) - plus various guests on guitar, violin, cello & guiro - as they mix folk musette, cabaret, and world roots with an alternative rock attitude.
