The early years of African superstars Amadou & Mariam are celebrated with the release on Because Music of a beautifully packaged ‘best of’ album.

The sixteen track collection dates from the start of the Nineties when Amadou & Mariam - frustrated by the lack of opportunities in their native Mali - moved to Abidjan, the capital of neighbouring Côte d'Ivoire, to make their first recordings as a series of cassette-only releases.

The very best of those tracks are now available on ‘1990-1995: The Best of the African Years’ (‘1990-1995: Le Meilleur des Années Maliennes’) the first time some of this music has been released on CD.
