This complete anthology of the vocal works of Jehan Alain, a composer tragically killed in battle in 1940, at the age of 29, is not just a labour of love – it’s very much a family affair. The organ and piano accompaniments, as well as the liner notes, are by Marie-Claire, Jehan’s world-famous younger sister, and whose daughter Aurélie Decourt has just published a book about her uncle, including letters and caricatures (one is on the album cover) by this very talented man. An important release, including many world première recordings.
