Blake Tartare consist of the visionary Canadian saxophonist Michael Blake, formerly of John Lurie’s Lounge Lizards, and three Danes: Soren Kjaergaard (piano, Wurlitzer, effects), Jonas Westergaard (acoustic bass) and Kresten Osgood (drums). For this outing Blake, playing flute and clarinet as well as saxes, has added instrumentation from special guests – cello, slide trumpet and guitars –and for the first time has recorded with a vocalist, Maria Laurette-Friis. Uncompromising yet accessible music, ranging from graceful lyricism to expressive free jazz.
