This is the third recording in a series, in which the youthful Antarès Quartet aim to perform a complete cycle of the string quartets by Joseph Boulogne – better-known as the dashing Chevalier de Saint-Georges – coupled with all the early ‘Milanese’ quartets by Mozart. So far, only one previous CD is available in the UK (INT 221.125), but together with this new release, there is enough evidence to convince lovers of the classical period that the project is both interesting and worthwhile.
